Maori and Pasifika Education- Raising Achievement
Nathan Mikaere Wallis
Having presented in Nelson on neuroscience and at risk students, Nathan is returning to focus specifically on supporting achievement in Maori and Pasifika students.
With a solid foundation in neuroscience, with practical and positive ways we can move forward to help and empower our students, this session with Nathan is not to be missed!
Focus on developing-
A working understanding of traditional Maori approaches to teaching and learning, and how these can be used in practice
How to connect with Maori even when you are not Maori
An understanding of brain development and engaging learners
An understanding of brains impacted by trauma and how our practice needs to accommodate
Where to find the free or affordable resources to support you in bringing Maori culture to the classroom
(NB- This is a Lancewood Education 'twilight session'. Light refreshments will be provided half-way through the presentation. Perhaps book a syndicate dinner for afterwards and make an evening of it!)
